States' chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in Nigeria have assembled for a meeting in Uyo, the Akwa Ibom State capital.
This is the first time the conference of PDP state chairmen will be holding in any state outside Abuja.
This meeting will afford the chairmen the opportunity to discuss critical issues concerning the approaching elective national convention and other issues affecting the growth of the party in the country.
The chairmen who arrived yesterday were received by the chairman of the conference and Akwa Ibom State PDP Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo at his residence, where a colourful reception was organised in their honour.
Speaking to journalists, chairman PDP Rivers state, Bro Felix Obuah said they will be going into their meeting this morning and it may last till afternoon.
He thanked the party at the state for being a willing and capable host.
A cross section of the chairmen who spoke to journalists expressed their satisfaction with the level of development witnessed in the state.
It is historic that Akwa Ibom state is hosting this meeting which coincides with the 19th anniversary of the PDP in Nigeria.
