2019 PRESIDENCY: SOUTH-SOUTH PDP MEETS, STRATEGIZES FOR VICTORY


The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Monday, held its South-South Zonal Executive Committee Meeting at Government House, Port-Harcourt, Rivers State, Nigeria.

Top on the agenda of the Meeting was the call for unity and strategizing to ensure that the party wins the 2019 Presidential election and the formal reception of the National Chairman of the Party, Prince Uche Secondus. 

National Chairman of the Party, Prince Uche Secondus in his speech, bemoaned the spate of violence across the country, calling for a minute silence in honour of victims of violent killings in the different parts of the country. He told the gathering that the crisis in the country is no longer a laughing matter, calling on the party to embark on a rescue mission to save the nation from nose-diving completely. 

In attendance were PDP Governors from the region including Rt Hon Seriake Dickson of Bayelsa State, Mr Udom Emmanuel of Akwa Ibom State who described the South-South as a foundation for the revival of the country. Barr Nyesome Wike of Rivers State said there was need for free and fair elections for Nigerians to determine the future of the country. Prof Ben Ayade of Cross River state was represented by his Deputy, Prof Ivara Esu. 

Present in the Akwa Ibom Contingent at the meeting was the Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Moses Ekpo, Speaker of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Onofiok Luke, Akwa Ibom State PDP Chairman, Obong Paul Ekpo, State PDP Exco Members, Commissioners, National and House of Assembly members, Local Government Chairmen, Party Elders, Stakeholders, among others.
