#AKS BAGS ANOTHER NATIONAL AWARD TODAY!!!
AKS GOV UDOM BAGS INTERGRITY AND NATIONAL SERVICE AWARD 2017
AKS Governor Udom Emmanuel will today in Abuja, receive the Integrity and National Service Award 2017 in conformity with the ethos of good governance, outstanding service delivery and principles of peer-review mechanism.
The Award bagged under the Health Care Delivery and Gender Empowerment assessment scorecard of the NTA Integrity and Service Programme is to be presented to Governor Udom Emmanuel at the Banquet Hall of Aso Presidential Villa by the Presidency in Abuja.
According to the organizers of the Integrity and National Service Award 2017, the award based on Merit, is geared at giving impetus to the ongoing pursuits for public accountability, excellence, patriotism and national integration as well as providing a veritable avenue for a healthy competition and excellence in service delivery by MDAs of States and Federal Government.
The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Charles Udoh who disclosed this to the media in Uyo, said, the award is very deserving in acknowledgement of the landmark strides of Governor Udom Emmanuel in Healthcare Delivery and Gender empowerment in the State and enumerated the achievements of the Governor in the Health sector to include: Free medicare to Children in the age bracket of 0 – 5 years, Pregnant women and the aged, the ongoing huge government investment in the rehabilitation and reconstruction of secondary health institutions in the state and the delivery of containers of state-of-the-arts medical health facilities to the state for distribution to health institutions in the state.
Charles Udoh emphasized that, already the Etinan General Hospital has been given a complete turn-around both in face-lift and facilities adding that, the output of the hospital is very impressive as patients in-take has been in the increase with the modern facilities in the operation theatre and wards in the hospital including the digital beds in the male and female wards.
He said to ensure workability and proper maintenance of equipment in Etinan General Hospital a workshop has been put in place within the hospital premises for the servicing and smooth operation of the facilities.
Udoh who said, Ikono General hospital is also wearing a new look and receiving a new lease of life added that an emergency operation centre has been opened at IDH Ikot Ekpene for quick surgery on patients while ambulances have been provided by government for surveillance around the state capital for prompt responses to traumatic cases.
In the Gender empowerment sector, the Information Boss stated that the Gender-friendly Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel places priority on gender issues, adding that, the Governor does not only run a gender-sensitive government with the appointment of women into the state executive council and other government boards and commissions but is committed to the packaging of programmes towards gender equality and development in the state.
Some of the programmes under Gender empowerment include: the numerous welfare schemes through soft loans, skills acquisition, supply of farming implements and improved seedlings, ICT training and provision of start-up equipment and the involvement of different MDAs in gender-sensitive schemes including; FEYReP, Ministry of Women Affairs, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Science and Technology and AKEES, among others.
It could be recalled that, barely few days ago, Akwa Ibom State was also in Abuja to receive the 3 Diamond National Sports Award 2017 for excelling in three categories in the Sports sector.
While savouring the momentous season of National Awards on Akwa Ibom State, it is only deserving to join friends, allies and associates of Governor Udom Emmanuel and indeed the State to congratulate the Government and good people of Akwa Ibom on the Awards and wish the Governor a very successful outing as he mounts the
rostrum today in Abuja for the 2017 edition of the Integrity and National Service Award.
