After an enlarged meeting of the executives and stakeholders of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Akwa Ibom state chapter which lasted for about 5 hours at Amazing Grace Event Center, Uyo the state capital, the state APC has endorsed President Mohammadu Buhari to run for second term due to his superlative performance under three years in office.
In a communiqué released after the meeting, they noted 10 powerful areas which the president has performed credibly well to earned their trust for a second term in office thus:
1. The ongoing construction of the Calabar-Itu Highway with dual carriage and street lights, handled by Julius Berger.
2. The completion and commissioning of the dualised East- West road.
3. The appointment of several Akwa Ibom youths to head different boards and parastatals in the APC led federal government.
4. The conversion of Maritime Academy, Oron into a full blown University and the appointment of an Akwa Ibom man of Oron extraction as the Vice-Chancellor of the Maritime University.
5. The ongoing construction of Lagos-Uyo-Calabar railway.
6. The proposed introduction of the onshore and offshore oil dichotomy.
7. The siting of various industries in Akwa Ibom by the APC led Federal Government.
8. The regular visit of President Buhari to commission various federal projects in Akwa Ibom state.
9. The reduction of fuel pump price from 180 naira to 140 naira in Akwa Ibom state, and lastly;
10. For promising to transform Akwa Ibom lands into cattle colonies.
The party stakeholders therefore thanked the President and declared their unalloyed support for his second term in office noting that the president has performed beyond the imagination of Akwa Ibom people and Nigerians at large.
