UDOM EMMANUEL'S DECLARATION FOR A SECOND TERM AND MATTERS ARISING

As Mr Udom Emmanuel declares for a second term bid on Friday, August 24th, 2018, pundits have asked "Now that Udom Emmanuel is heeding the clarion call to declare himself for service to Akwa Ibom people come 2019, has he fulfilled his part of the bargain with Akwaibomites?" does he really deserve a second term? 

The answer is YES! UDOM HAS FULFILLED HIS PART OF THE BARGAIN. 

Upon mounting the podium on May 29th, 2015, Akwa Ibom State Governor Mr Udom Emmanuel made his blueprint known to the people, which include; Industrialization, Poverty alleviation and wealth Creation, job creation, Political and Economic inclusion, Infrastructural Consolidation and Expansion. These formed the fulcrum of His administration in the past three years and three months. 

INDUSTRIALIZATION 

Under Mr Udom Emmanuel's led Administration in Akwa Ibom State, several industries have come up in Akwa Ibom State. First, he started with the ailing Peacock Paint Industry in Etinan within his 100days in office, and today, Peacock Paint is alive and producing quality paints in Akwa Ibom State. Other industries like the Akees Toothpick and pencil factory, Syringe Factory, Metering Solution Factory, Fertilizer blending Plant in Abak, the Rice Mill, Coconut Refinery in Mkpat Enin, the Ibom deep seaport project is loading and other industries waiting to kick off soonest like the plastic industry, etc. 

POVERTY ALLEVIATION AND WEALTH CREATION 

Under the Udom Emmanuel's led Administration, a lot of entrepreneurs have been raised. Akees has encouraged young entrepreneurs who before today were merely seen on the streets begging for survival, the Akees Tomato Revolution and other cash crops have turned many Akwa Ibomites into millionaires,  the Dakkada Cooperative Society has also birthed many young entrepreneurs through their various starters program, FEYReP, the Governor's wife pet program has also touched lives of many widows and has turned them into entrepreneurs. Mr Udom Emmanuel has also initiated and disbursed interest free loans to traders and farmers in Akwa Ibom State. The youth of the State has also benefited either directly or indirectly from this administration. 

JOB CREATION 

Under Udom Emmanuel, many jobs have been created in Akwa Ibom State. The various industries that have come up has in a great way created employment opportunities to thousands of job seekers in Akwa Ibom State. Either through direct employment or value chain, Akwa Ibom Youth have found themselves in various legal means of getting busy and earn money. In the Civil Service, thousands of employment have been done under this administration. 

INFRASTRUCTURAL CONSOLIDATION AND EXPANSION 

Mr Udom Emmanuel has thoroughly undertaken many infrastructural projects within this period. About 1700km of road have been completed, internal roads have also received major attention. Worthy of note is the fact that Udom Emmanuel gives more attention to economically viable roads, and such has been done. The administration has also ventured into big infrastructural renaissance like the completed Taxi way at the Ibom International Airport, building of Terminal Building at the Airport, Industrial City ongoing at Itam, Governor's Lodge in Lagos ongoing, a 21 storey building investment building at Udo Udoma, the Dakkada Secretariat at Udo Udoma and so much more. 

POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC INCLUSION 

Mr Udom Emmanuel's administration has given many youth, women and men opportunity to serve in various political and economic space of Akwa Ibom State. Via political appointments and elective positions, Akwa Ibom people especially youth and women are strong beneficiaries of this policy. 

However, aside from the above mentioned Governor Udom Emmanuel has invested heavily on Education, Healthcare delivery, workers welfare, sports, ICT etc. This has made Akwa Ibom an envy amongst many states of the Federation. Investors throng into the state because of the improved power supply and security of lives and properties in Akwa Ibom. The Akwa Ibom State Government under Mr Udom Emmanuel has also demonstrated a transparent administrative policy by publishing its annual financial transactions in the state. 

This is just a review of Mr Udom Emmanuel's three years in office as Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
